Commercialization

Tech-X Commercialization History

Tech-X Corporation uniquely combines simulation and modeling, massively parallel computing expertise, object-oriented software, and distributed technologies to assist customers in solving the most difficult scientific problems. The company provides technical solutions through collaboration and product development and is dedicated to advances in science and engineering. The company's business consists of federal and other externally funded scientific research and development projects, externally funded consulting, and commercial sales of scientific software products and services.

Tech-X Commercialization Strategy

Tech-X maintains a highly qualified staff that actively participates in professional societies and scientific forums and publishes in peer-reviewed industry publications to disseminate information about our research and product offerings.

Our approach to generating revenue beyond our Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards leverages the technologies developed under these awards in several ways. Tech-X develops and sells software products and consulting directly to academic, research, and commercial markets. Also, where possible, Tech-X tries to establish partnerships with other organizations that have recognized expertise in the markets served by our technologies.

Additional Research Sponsored by the U.S. Government

Tech-X has successfully provided technologies developed under the SBIR program to various government agencies to address specific challenges faced by those agencies. In many instances, additional funds from government sponsorship have allowed us to further our research or adapt our technology to solve a specific problem for the Department of Energy, various sectors within the Department of Defense, as well as for other entities of the U.S. Government. This includes additional funded research outside the SBIR program, as well as specific grants such as those distributed under the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing program within the Department of Energy, among others. Research and development funding from non-SBIR sources grew three-fold from 2003 to 2006.

Products and Services from Tech-X Corporation

The company sells a variety of software products and consulting services to customers in industry, government-sponsored research, and academia. Since 2003, Tech-X has increased its focus in commercializing technology resulting from SBIR-funded research. We have released several commercial products, with revenues from software product sales increasing 50-fold from 2003 to 2006.

Partnerships and Collaborations

Tech-X has partnered with group within US government through programs such as Cooperative Research and Development Agreements and with commercial partners via reseller agreements. We continue to seek out and support strategic partnerships where organizations can leverage technologies developed by Tech-X in their particular areas of expertise.
