TxPhysics Library

Advanced Physics For Accelerator Simulations

The TxPhysics library from Tech-X Corporation is a cross-platform library of computational modules for modeling how charged particles interact with their environment. The TxPhysics library includes models for impact ionization of neutral gases by electrons and ions, field-induced tunneling ionization of atoms, ion range and stopping power in solids, ion-induced electron yield from solids, and secondary electron yields.

These effects are important in low-pressure discharges for ion sources, waveguide breakdown for microwave physics, and plasma creation during laser-plasma interaction. Tech-X researchers and their collaborators have published discussions on many of the algorithms in the TxPhysics library, including:

TxPhysics Library is certified to work with Mission Research Corporation's LSP plasma simulation package as well as OOPIC Pro and VORPAL from Tech-X Corporation.

TxPhysics Library Model in Use: The image below is from an OOPIC Pro simulation showing argon ion density in a closed-drift ion source. Two important mechanisms for generating and maintaining this discharge are impact ionization and ion-induced electron yield. Models for these two mechanisms and more are included in the TxPhysics library.

TxPhysics FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the TxPhysics Library?

The TxPhysics Library is an electron effects modeling library that can be added to a wide range of plasma and particle modeling applications.

What codes currently use the TxPhysics Library?

The Tech-X Corporation plasma simulation codes OOPIC Pro and VORPAL as well as the Mission Research code LSP use the TxPhysics Library to model electron effects. Many codes can be easily adapted to use the TxPhysics Library using either or FORTRAN interfaces.

What modules does the TxPhysics Library depend on?

The TxPhysics Library uses the code POSINST developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and licensed by the University of California.

The TxPhysics Library uses the dcdflib mathematical foundation components available at www.netlib.org.

Is non-commercial licensing available?

Yes. The current version of the TxPhysics Library is available for evaluation and non-commercial use at no charge. See downloads .

Is commercial licensing available?

Yes. There is a license fee for commercial use of the TxPhysics Library. Contact sales@txcorp.com with inquiries.
