What is QScimpl?
QScimpl is a suite of C++ class libraries that provide a flexible toolkit for building graphical user interfaces (GUI) for the interactive control of scientific and engineering applications, facilitating rapid visualization of 2-D and 3-D data. 3-D data is rendered using OpenGL.
QScimpl is built on Qt, the cross-platform windowing toolkit from Troll Tech.
QScimpl is being used by Tech-X Corporation for the accelerator design and tracking code MAPA and for the object-oriented particle-in-cell code OOPIC Pro.

What compilers and systems are supported by QScimpl?
QScimpl has been compiled and tested on the following platforms with the indicated compilers.
- Linux-ix86 : gcc2.95
- Solaris2.8 : gcc2.95
- MS Win32 : Free Borland C++ 5.5
For all Unix and GNU/Linux platforms, the distributed tarball comes with a configure script, which should build appropriate Makefiles.

How do I build the code on MS Windows or Macintosh?
For MS Windows and Macintosh OS X, QScimpl is only available with commercial licensing. QScimpl has not yet been tested on MacOSX, but we plan to support this platform if there is commercial interest.

Will QScimpl remain free for non-commercial use?
In principle, the license can be changed whenever a new version is released. However, Tech-X Corporation is planning to keep the core libraries of QScimpl free for non-commercial use for the life of the software.
