Kim Rijpstra of SCK•CEN Presents Ion Source Development for ISOL@MYRRHA Poster at ICIS 2017

October 15-20, 2017

Dr. Kim Rijpstra of SCK•CEN presents the poster Ion Source Development for ISOL@MYRRHA at the 17th International Conference on Ion Sources in Geneva, Switzerland.

MYRRHA is the very first prototype of a nuclear reactor driven by a particle accelerator in the world. An Isotope Separation OnLine (ISOL) capability is planned at the facility. A key step is the efficient but selective ionization and extraction of the desired element in the ion source. SCK•CEN is collaborating with research partners on ion source development, and will present its first steps towards a realistic model using the VSim particle-in-cell code.
